AEON Vietnam Launched the “Sustainability Squad” Program

On December 6th, AEON Vietnam successfully launched the pilot program “The Sustainability Squad” under the theme “Keeping the Planet Clean – Protecting the Green Earth” at AEON Tan Phu Celadon.
About the Sustainability Squad:
The Sustainability Squad program focuses on introducing primary school students to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and Vietnam through engaging edutainment activities at AEON Vietnam stores. For 2024, the program centered on Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, under the theme: “Keeping the Planet Clean – Protecting the Green Earth.”

AEON Vietnam Store Tour:
The program welcomed the participation of 50 fourth-grade students from Lê Lai Primary School (Tan Phu District) and over 15 AEON Tân Phú staff members who acted as group leaders. Held at AEON Mall Tân Phú Celadon, the event consisted of two main components: store tour & creative activities.
The tour featured two main stops: green checkout counter and recyclable waste sorting area. At the Green Checkout Counter, students were introduced to the environmental impact of plastic bags and explored eco-friendly alternatives for shopping, such as: renting reusable eco-bags, using multi-use bags, opting for cardboard boxes for carrying items, ...

The visit to the recyclable waste sorting area was designed to cultivate and promote the habit of waste segregation at the source. Through hands-on observation of AEON Vietnam’s waste management processes, students gained valuable insights into the practical steps of recycling and its positive impact on the environment.

Creative Activities to Enhance Awareness:
The creative segment featured two exciting competitions: Green Designer Contest and Green Inventor Contest These activities encouraged students to: showcase their creativity, improve teamwork and presentation skills, reflect on and express their understanding of the program's sustainability theme.
The "Green Designer" activity aimed to remind students of the importance of reducing plastic bag usage. Students expressed their creativity by designing environmental-themed artwork on paper bags. After completing their designs, each group selected a representative to present their creations, explaining the meaning and inspiration behind their artwork. A panel of judges evaluated the designs and awarded prizes to the groups, encouraging creativity and fostering a strong sense of teamwork among the participants.

In the "Green Inventor" activity, students transformed empty aluminum cans into innovative designs with entirely new purposes using various decorative materials. The goal of the activity was to make recycling a creative and enjoyable experience, encouraging students to adopt this habit in their daily lives. After completing their projects, each group presented their creations to their peers and teachers, showcasing their ingenuity and understanding of sustainable practices.

AEON Members as Team Leaders and Judges
AEON team members played an integral role in the Sustainability Squad program, acting as group leaders and judges to guide and inspire the students throughout the activities. This program is a key initiative under AEON Vietnam’s Sustainable Development Strategy in the "Social Sustainability" pillar, aiming to nurture younger generations. Guided by the principle of “Every Cent, Every Meaning,” AEON Vietnam strives to ensure that each customer transaction contributes meaningful value to the local community and societal development. By focusing on three core aspects—environmental, social, and economic sustainability—AEON Vietnam continues its commitment to building a sustainable future for all.
