19.06.2018
On March 10, AEON MALL Vietnam and AEON Environmental Foundation planted 500 cherry blossom trees in Hoa Binh Park, Hanoi, with the expectation of turning this place into a new famous place for cherry blossoms.
Responding to "The plan of planting 1 million trees in Hanoi" within the framework of environmental protection activities proposed by the Hanoi People's Committee, this year, AEON Environmental Foundation with the support of AEON MALL Vietnam continues to implement the cherry blossom tree planting project in Hoa Binh Park, with the expectation of turning this place into a new famous place for cherry blossoms loved by the city people.
Currently, the serious deforestation problem in some regions and complicated climate change have caused many concerns about the environment and natural disasters, affecting lives and activities of the people. The tree planting ceremony also represents the positive efforts of AEON Environmental Foundation and AEON MALL Vietnam in bringing sustainable values to the community and actively working to protect the environment for the next young generation, maintain the nature's beauty.
To suit the Vietnamese environment, cherry blossoms are selected from the Kyushu region, where the hot and humid climate is similar to Hanoi.
“By donating a typical plant of Japan, we wish to add to the attractiveness of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. We are delighted to see a more poetic Hanoi with cherry blossom trees from our country” said Mr. Iwamura Yasutsugu, General Director of AEON MALL Vietnam.
Previously, in March 2017, AEON MALL Vietnam planted 200 cherry blossom trees in Hoa Binh Park. Despite many initial difficulties due to the different climatic and soil conditions between Vietnam and Japan, the cherry blossom trees are growing very well thanks to the efforts and dedication of all members, from researching to planting and caring plants. These efforts have been rewarded when the survival rate of these trees reached approximately 90%.
Mr. Iwamura Yasutsugu also shared “We will continue our efforts to care for each cherry blossom tree and make this place become famous for cherry blossom, bringing a bright spot to the community and beautifying the lives of the local people”.
