AEON VIETNAM developed a new retail format in Hanoi – Compact Mini GMS

On May 14th, 2022, AEON Vietnam opened AEON The Nine at THE NINE building - 9 Pham Van Dong, Cau Giay District, Hanoi. The launch of a new retail format "Compact/ MiniGeneral Merchandise Store" is part of the company's med-term business strategy to accelerate the development of diversified retail formats and promote investment expansion in Vietnam market.

The Compact GMS format of AEON Vietnam has an area of 1,000 - 5,000m2. It is in theurban and residential areas, aiming to bring AEON quality and standard experiences closerto customers, thereby helping customers enjoy life to the fullest every day. AEON Vietnam accelerates investment and diversifies retail formats in Vietnam.

In recent years, Vietnam's retail market has witnessed a boom in modern commerce with a variety of models, especially small and medium shops & supermarkets. At the same time, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the lifestyle of customers is also increasingly changing, focusing on convenience and comfort.

With the potential of the retail market in Vietnam, AEON Group identifies Vietnam as the second most important market after Japan, to focus resources on promoting development, including a strategy of diversifying retail models. Specifically, from 2020, AEON Vietnam has launched the 5th business segment "small and medium supermarket system” - AEON MaxValu and recently launched a new retail format Compact/ Mini-GMS – with AEON The Nine as the 1st store in Hanoi.

The new format of Compact/ Mini GMS - "Bring experience closer for the fulfill life everyday"

Not located in AEON shopping malls but in partners’ shopping centers or buildings in residential areas and central the cities, AEON Compact/mini-GMS, with an area of 1,000 -  5,000m2, not only meets the needs of “Close and Convenient" of the majority of urban residents but also provides quality products, services and shopping experiences with "AEON standard".

Features of Compact/ Mini GMS AEON The Nine

AEON The Nine is the 1st store to be launched under the model of Compact/ Mini GMS AEON. It's located on an area of 1,200m², with 02 main areas: Delica food court and Supermarket.

To meet the customers' needs for convenience in daily meals, Delica food court offers a variety of RTE (ready-to-eat) products, which are typical of AEON such as bread & cakes, coffee, sushi, and Japanese bento, ... With spacious seating area, comfortable space along with charging station & wifi, many young customers can also choose AEON The Nine as a place to work, study every day or meet friends on the weekend.

Serving the needs of customers' daily life, the supermarket area in AEON The Nine has a full range of products from fresh flowers to food: dry food, frozen food,... Especially RTE (Ready to eat), RTC (Ready to cook) products help customers to save time in preparing meals; thereby enhancing convenience and comfort in busily modern life.

Besides, there are also health & beauty care and many other household products. Prominently, the area is a dedicated area for Mother & Baby with a variety of diapers, milk,... needed to take care of the babies.

At AEON The Nine, AEON Vietnam also introduces to customers products from AEON's Private Brands such as AEON TOPVALU, HÓME CÓORDY (private brand for household products and furniture) with Japanese quality & standard, all are designed and developed by AEON Japan.

In order for customers to experience many conveniences like those at General Merchandise Store and Supermarket, AEON The Nine also integrates a series of services such as cashless payment counters, integrated AEON Vietnam membership card points, and promotions. At the same time, customers can also easily save time with shopping-on-phone, grocery shopping & home delivery services by contacting directly to customer service or ordering through AEON Vietnam's app.
